THE ROAD TO THE PLAYOFFS: PROOF THAT EVERY GAME COUNTS

For the second season in a row, Tony Lucca's Canada Colts have earned an out-right State Playoff Berth. With the official announcement of the Northern California State Playoff Seeding, the #13 seeded Colts can take pride in knowing that during 2009 they faired well against many of the 18 teams that will battle it out in NorCal Playoffs.

The seeding also illustrates the importance of every single game on the schedule - especially those against powerful non-conference rivals.

In non-conference play, the 29-12 Canada ball club beat #3 seed Feather River 3-1 in their only meeting at Colt Field: a Feather River team that went on to have a 40-3 overall record, the best record of any JC in Northern or Southern California.

The Colts also beat #4 seed CSM in their only meeting, as well as #11 seed West Valley 3-1 - both at Colt Field. The Colts also beat #17 seed Shasta twice, as well as #15 seed San Jose and #16 seed Chabot College. And if the Colts needed any further proof as to the type of team they had entering league play, they split with Cuesta College in a road doubleheader - a Cuesta team that is now seeded #3 in the Southern California Playoffs.
