HERRERA HOMERS - TORRES, ZAMUDIO, KILBURG PITCH COLTS PAST SKYLINE 2-1$BlogItemTitle$>
The Colts improved to 13 – 4 overall and 2 – 0 in league, as they edged long-time rival Skyline College 2-1 at Trojan Field. Colts starter Ray Torres threw 8 superb innings, giving up 2 hits, one earned run and fanning three with no walks. The Colts were down 1-0 until the top of the sixth when shortstop Eric Herrera stepped up and tied the game with a solo shot over the left field wall. It stayed 1-1 until the top of the 10th when Bobby Scott stroked a scarifice fly putting the Colts ahead 2-1. Enter Colts closer Brett Kilburg who finished the game with a one, two, three 10th. Remarkably, neither Torres, eventual winning pitcher Dan Zamudio (worked a scoreless 9th) or Kilburg walked a batter. Both Daniel Johnston and Chris Viegas had two hits each for the Colts.
